Have you ever dropped everything to answer a call? Back in 2003 Julia Kemper, a young and accomplished lawyer of Lisbon, Portugal, dropped all the trappings of her profession and city life to return to her family’s ancestral farmstead – Quinta da Cruzeiro. Ringed by pine and olive trees, situated on a mountain plateau in Portugal’s Dão region, the 400-year-old family owned vineyard became Kemper’s new courtroom. Pivoting the family vineyard into a world class organic and biodynamic winery, she puts the beauty of the indigenous varietals from this region on the witness stand.

One such example of this grape’s testimony is Julia Kemper Elpenor Blanc de Noir, a unique white wine made from the Iberian indigenous red grape known as Jaen. This wine is produced using only the red grape’s fresh juice without any skin contact to maintain its bright straw and citrus colour. The aroma of this organic wine is elegant, exquisite notes of white pulp fruit blend with notes of violet and black tea. The mouthfeel is voluminous and mineral, with a fresh structure and strong character. This fascinating white wine begs to be served slightly warm, around 12 ° C, allowing its unique aromas to shine
