Castello Tricerchi LULI’O Toscana Sangiovese
Castello Tricerchi’s vineyards extend over the northern slopes of Montalcino, Tuscany. The Castle of the Tricerchi family, completed in 1441, dominates the property and is now the home and headquarters of the Tricerchis’ direct ancestors, the Squarcia family. Wines produced include the well-known Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino, but I love their LULI’O Sangiovese, which is 100% Sangiovese, fermented and aged in stainless steel to retain the aromatic freshness and fruit purity. LULI’O is dry, vibrant and tastes of sweet and sour cherries, red currants and a hint of sweet spices. Pair this with an Italian style sandwich of pesto, cured meats and an eggplant spread and you have an easy, mid-week patio dinner to enjoy in the warm sun.
