Domaine Le Colombier Vieilles Vignes

The vieilles vignes (old vines), with some up to 50 years old, give concentration and wonderful complexity with just the right balance of fruit, floral, spice and earthy notes in this Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre blend.  To obtain this fresh yet structured style, winemaker Jean-Louis Mourre choses to destem the fruit, use natural yeast and both ferment and age in concrete, with no use of oak.  This approach maintains the purity of the naturally ripe fruit, which is characteristic of the region, and makes for a fantastic wine.  As the weather turns chilly and the sun sets earlier, this fruity red wine is the perfect bottle to open on a cool fall evening.
