M. Chapoutier L'Ermite Rouge

Marked by exceptionally deep notes of crushed stone, blackcurrant, and blueberry, the 2019 L'Ermite is a major work and a worthy rival to the wines produced over the last four vintages. Full-bodied, it is rich and restrained, expansive yet structured—a complete wine, from the mouthwatering aromas to the velvety mouthfeel and long, mineral finish. While delicious now, I expect it to tighten up soon, yet still show great promise in two decades. Wow!
