Chateau Cheval Brun Saint-Emilion

Chateau Cheval Brun Saint-Emilion

Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux

This wine is from the western part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the heart of Saint-Émilion. The wine tradition in this village dates back to the Ancient Romans, earning Saint-Émilion the title of the oldest wine producing appellation in the Bordeaux region.

Within this compelling town also lies the Monolithic Cathedral of Saint-Émilion. To experience this beautiful full-bodied wine is reminiscent of completing a pilgrimage to this cathedral, which was carved with care and devotion over the centuries from the limestone bedrock. This same limestone is responsible both for the structure of this region’s architecture as well as for nourishing the structure and depth of Saint-Émilion’s Merlot forward wines in its surrounding vineyards.

Like the Cathedral’s carved bell tower reaching to the sky, the wine’s acidity adds a mouthwatering brightness to this wine, while deep, rich and spicy flavours of anise seed, black cherry liquor and black plums create a sense of depth, like the crypts, the catacombs and sacred passages of the ancient église itself Fine and velvety tannins, refined from the wine’s gentle wood-aged repose in medieval caves carved from the same bedrock, reinforce the impression of beauty and structure, showing promise for this wine’s ageing potential.
